WORK ASSIGNMENT:
To teach one section of English 1000.06, "Introduction to Literature" in the
2010-2011 academic year. The class is currently scheduled for Tuesdays and
Thursdays 1435-1555. The class will meet for three hours each week and will be
capped at 60 students. The part-time academic will be responsible for all
aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test
preparation and evaluation. The part-time academic should also be available
for two hours per week for consultation with students. This position reports
to the Chair of the Department.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in English, or be in the final stages of a
Ph.D. program, or possess other academic and/or professional qualifications
deemed suitable for teaching the class. Previous university-level teaching
will be an asset.

class, including admission, lectures, and evaluation. The part-time academic

Applicants should be published creative writers, with at least one book of poems
to their credit, and should have had some experience teaching creative writing
at the post-secondary level. Service as a university writer-in-residence will
count as such teaching experience.

at 20 students. Admission requires successful completion of CRWR 2000, English
3098, English 3099, CRWR 3000 and CRWR 3001. The part-time academic will be
responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering this poetry-writing
seminar, including evaluation. The part-time academic should also be available
for two hours per week for consultation with students. The position reports to
the Chair of the Department.
